Good lord this turned into a nightmare...they werent even in that bad of shape i regret even beginning. I spent 2 hours trying to figure a way to get out one of the center pieces sandwiched together. Wasted time, I had a torch but i didnt want to smoke up the shop where i work. Ive got a saws all to try tomorrow.

How is everyone layering their body mounts and body lift? Any washers btwn the mount and lift puck?

I would have suggested the fire wrench, but you already had thought about it.

Soak them down with your choice of rust penetrant. I like the new WD-40 stuff. Its the best I've used.

man its going to be a pain in the ass even with the saws all......torching just seems like a smelly mess burning the rubber out. Ha I gave up on it for now. Ive got 6 of the mounts in, ill just do them one at a time. Super obnoxiuos

aren't you supposed to have them all loosened before doing it. i would have it sitting on the ground with a jack and a big piece of wood lifting the body form the frame then wacking them off with bfh. just my thoughts.

If you're trying to get the metal bushing sleeves apart (the one under each footwell and ones just below/behind the front seats), best way is to stick a ¾" drill bit in there from above and drill them down about a half inch, afterward they should pretty much fall apart (spin the nut (flange) on the bottom with an impact if they're real rusty).

From the factory these four body mounts have a flare on the end of the inner sleeve that prevents them from coming apart easily (drilling them removes this flare).

The rest of the mounts just thread together (the four rear-most ones have left-hand threads).
That is, if rust hasn't completely had it's way with yours yet...

God Im an idiot for not thinking of that......anyone else reading this thread, this is the way to go...forget about torching or the saws all, drilling them down the center is the right idea....thanks bud

I assume they are not reusable after that though?

no way...you will have to buy new mounts

They are completely reuseable (the body bolt is what holds it together). All you are drilling off is the internal flare that holds them together when the bolt is out.

But again, that's only if they aren't totally disintegrated from rust.

So do you still use these with urethane mounts?

Urethane, rubber... whatever bushings you want (I used urethane on mine)

Right, so I have a set of the Energy urethane ones but I have yet to install them. I was curious if you still needed to use these sleeves with them or not, but you're saying you do correct?

Yes, the sleeves are needed so that the bushing isn't crushed when you tighten the bolt down.

Ok thats what I thought. Thanks Any tips for the front mount removal? I cant seem to get it to budge.

Lots of PB B'laster?

IIRC, the nut up above the bushing needs to be loosened first on the front (core support) mounts.
