i have a bronco 2 axle with the code d4. its the same 3.73 ratio as my ranger. my ranger axle has bad pinion bearings and since i got the bronco axle free it will be cheaper to put that in. i know that it wont fit direct but im ok with cutting the perches off and the shock mounts and rewelding them.

my question is, the bronco axle only has 1.25 inches of offset at the pinion according to the axle specs in the tech section and the ranger has 2 inches. will this 3/4 of an inch cause problems with the gastank or will it clear.

It'll probably be OK if your Ranger has a smaller-diameter steel driveshaft and you aren't twisting the suspension up a lot with offroad use (though if your tank has a steel skidplate you still might need to trim it a bit). The lesser offset will be more likely to cause issues if you have a larger diameter aluminum driveshaft.

Welcome to TRS.

It was cold and my axle was about to blow up. I ended up getting an 8.8 axle with lsd and it was a direct swap. Going to sell the bronco axle instead of hacking it up.
