Bronco 2.9 Starter problems

I had the same problem and I had to loosen the engine- trans. bolts enough to get the spacer plate loose and then align and tighten the starter bolts while the plate is loose. Then tighten the engine-trans. bolts. Also I had to take one top bolt out to get the plate to slide in easy.

- Be patient and use a torque wrench when called for.
I had the same problem. I kept putting in remans from O'Reilly's. Junk. I bought an AC Delco Gold from Rock Auto and problem solved.
