i have an 89 ranger 4x4. the driver side shackle rusted and broke. can i make my own like the old chevy lift shackles. Here is what i was thinking. take a 1/4 steel flat piect and measure the same length and width. the mounting holes would be the same as oem. then i will get bushings online for cheap and get some small pipe for the inside metal bushings. then bolt it all together and have mybe 20-25 bucks in the whole thing. what do you think. let me know

nobody, come on i know with all the gear heads out there someone has made some

why spend all the time to make them????

as you stated $20-$25 in materials...not counting your time to fab them...not really worth it in my opinion....unless you just want to fab them yourself...

stockers can be had on Ebay for that much, and I got my extended ones from O'Reilly's for $30....

+1

My opinion would be to just buy them too unless you have the material sitting around or you got them from work or something

buy them, not worth making... if they were expo shackles, then yeah i would, they would be super easy... but i bought a set of belltech shackles (6400) from a local performance parts store for 57$ tax in! and they were on the shelf!
