Hi guys!
My name is Brandon. I have read a lot of these forums when I was looking into buying a Ranger. Well I purchased a 2002 Ford ranger about 2 Months ago. Today I experienced my first problem. I was showing odd my truck to a buddy and hit the gas pretty good. Revving at about 4800 rpms. Well i heard a bang and stopped accelerating. It sounded like a backfire. I stopped to check it out and there was smoke coming out of the hood. It was coolant burning and it was all over the engine. I inspected the rest of the engine compartment and found a fan blade resting under the air intake hose. I briefly started the engine again to see if the fan had seized. It did not. I also put some water in to see if i could find a leak. I could not. I drove the 2 miles the rest of the way home keeping an eye on the temp. It ran hot and I stopped. I got home with my truck but it seems I dont have a leak because the water is still there. Why would there be coolant everywhere but I dont have a leak? Anyone have any ideas or thoughts as to why this happened?
