took a shot in the dark to see if it would work. these brakes are from a subaru. but they sure stop very good, i figured the ranger could use a little better stopping power now that it has 5.0 in it.has anybody else done some brake upgrades?

now looks great. i din't know that cobra brakes fit. i would have gone that way instead of spending the money on the brembo. i have explorer rear disc right now but will be spending some more money and time to make the brembo fit the rear too. got to have a matching set right?

I want to see more pictures/info on your subi brake swap. How did you design/make your caliper brackets? I'm assuming you're using STi rotors too? Any issues fitting those over the Ranger hubs?

no brackets!

here is how i did it. i machined the sti front brake rotor on the inside where the hub passes into. i took out a 100 thousands. next i bored the center hole to just slightly bigger than the hub center of the 4x4 explorer/ranger hub. then next i drilled out the five holes slightly bigger, the ranger/explorer have bigger studs then a subaru.next i removed the front knuckles and milled them .120 in a 180 degree offset of the factory caliper bolt holes. it could also be done by hand with a die grinder and a burr. but i have access to the machines,. made the a lot easier. then i just spaced the brake caliper in the center of the rotors with large grade ten washers. i found some bolts in my old collection of mazda stuff, the motor mount bolts that pass through the oil pan on a seconded gen rx7 did the trick for mounting these calipers just perfect on the factory ford knuckle.next i used a rubber hammer to massage the brake dust shields back a a little so they don't touch the rotors.and finally i used brake hoses from a subaru impreza to finsihed the job.bled the brakes and wa la!

So the STi calipers bolted directly to the 4WD Ranger knuckle with nothing but a couple of spacers to line the caliper up with the rotor? That seems to good to be true.

yea i would imagine a whole bracket would need to be fabbed, but ive seen crazier stuff fit in places where it shouldnt, hahahaha.

yes the rotors due bolt right up with little mod. like i mention with the lath. the caliper were very very close. just needed a slot on the steering knuckle. by the way im using 4x4 steering knuckles from a 200 explorer.
next the rear calipers ill post some pics on how that goes!!!
