Brake drums will be warm, depending on how much stop n go was done, if the rims are warm, the drums will most likely be hot. Do the wheel cylinders look old? Since its an older axle, they may need replacing. Pull the drums and inspect them. If they are heavily rusted and/or the rubber boots are dry rotted/cracked, replace them.
