I have a 99 ranger that set for a while. the guy I bought it from replaced rear end from a 91 ranger. Don't know if the 91 had abs or not. replaced all brakes and bled them at lease 12 times. Brakes feel very mushy just dose not work as good as they should. What should I try?

When you bled the brakes, did you bleed all 4 corners, or just the back? What condition is the flex line in?

Bleed all 4 many times and lines all look good

Have you pumped the brakes a couple times then held pressure on the pedal to see if it held pressure or slowly went to the floor?

I did this a few minutes ago with truck not running and seem to hold pressure

What about with the engine running? Does it feel spungy both with the engine off and running?

Sounds like your brake booster is failing...

With the engine off, press on the brake a couple times to bleed off any vacuum. Then press and hold the brakes, then start the vehicle. The pedal should depress slightly after the engine comes to idle (usually within 5 seconds of starting). If it doesnt, the booster needs to be replaced...

Did you check all connections for tightness, at the flex line, the T, and both wheel cylinders? The #1 cause for spongy pedal is air in the system...

checking the brakes again Pedal feels solid when not running when started pedal goes almost to floor.

Still sounds like you have air in the line. Double check the lines from the mc to the wheel cylinders/calipers at all 4 corners, every inch. Check the cylinders, make sure they are not upside down...

I went out and rechecked all under truck and couldn't find any leaks and my son and I rebled the brakes and no better.

After driving thru town and driving home about 50 miles would brake drums be cool enough to touch?
