Is anyone elses Ranger allergic to the rain? Seems like the rain is what brings out my troubles... If it has been raining all night or i have been driving on wet roads my brakes will lock up. IM sayin usually driving out of the neighborhood doing no more than 25mph and i BARELY apply pressure to the brake pedal i get thrown forward from them locking up. I let off the pedal it releases but the slightest tap on the pedal locks them up? I read a post on the rear brakes swelling from moisture absorption but for some reason it feels like all wheels are locking up? Might just be the back though. Any iput on how to resolve my issue would be great or maybe its something i have to deal with, they work fine after a few minutes...

its the rear.. you could have a broken return spring.. but this is a common problem it happens to me every morning but goes away after the first time.

its best to take the drums off and inspect, check for leaking wheel cylinders

Thanks guy, i think my left rear has a leaking wheel cylinder, not bad but its there..and the whole locking up issue goes away after a few times braking...just one of those nuissance things ya know-

Rangers, particularly drum brakes, have a notorious problem in high humid climates and after a rain of the linings absorbing the moisture, causing the brakes to swell. When you apply them for the first few times, they will lock up. This is why after a few minutes the brakes return to normal operation. A couple of solutions, before you head out, apply your brakes all the way to the floor a couple of times and hold them for a second or two, causing the moisture to be forced out; upgrade your rear brake shoes to a higher quality, like performance friction or carbon metallics; upgrade your axle to the exploder disc brakes

:agree: Seen it, had it happen. RangerSVT is true to the word.
