Brakes locking up

Hello all. I have an 01 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0. When the truck is cold (hasnt been run in a day or two) wether summer or winter and I start driving it, when I press the brakes even slightly they tend to lock up all 4. After a few minutes of driving the problem resolves its self. I have no abs or warning lights. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks

i would like to know also... i have a astro van that did that and my buddy has a blazer that does it...

It's the compound that the brakes are made from. It's very common but most people don't notice.

When the vehicle sits for a while, surface rust starts on the rotors /drums as well as the friction material absorbs a bit of water. After the first couple brake applications the problem resolves itself.
