brakes and signal lights are shorted out together?

hey all

i got an 04 4000. did a quick search nothing really touched base on what i got going on. anyways. as of right now with out parking or headlights on, my brake lights are my turn signals. head lights on, brakes light up turn signals and shut off tail lights. throw on the blinker and it indicates hyper blinking, hit the brakes, both my blinkers go off and all three of my brake lights including on the cab flash like im driving an ambulance. hazard lights also create the ambulance effect.

i was hoping maybe someone has heard of something like this maybe before i go into an indepth short hunting mission?

btw no fuses are blown or blowing. thanks in advance.

Check the tail light bulbs. It is a common failure where a dual filament lamp has a filament break and it welds to the other tying the running lights circuit to the brake/turn lights circuit.

update.

since its 30 degrees outside today instead of 12 i checked all the bulbs. front turn signals are good. rear turn signals are good ( mazdas have the separate bulb for turn signals) and the brake\tail lights are good. soooooooo looks like ill be tracing some wiring ill prolly start at the trailer plug im sure that was installed nicely by the previous owner. my buddy has a warm garage so ill do it there. and a lift. heh.
