the Brake warning light in the instrument cluster will not come on. I "ass"ume it was the bulb so I pulled the cluster and changed it but it was not the bulb. I disconnected the wire at the ebrake and nothing. I disconnected the wire on the brake master cylinder and the abs light came on but not the brake light.....I looked in the owners manual for the fuse for the light but could not see wat one would control it.....I did check the fuses for brake switch and they were fine....any ideas

I figured it out. It is the e brake switch. The one right on the e-barke

For the record, the PB switch completes a ground to light the light.

I know you already figured that out, but it'll help a future searcher.

To get the light on using the MC reservoir switch, you either deplete the reservoir so the magnet latches the switch, or disconnect the sensor on the bottom and jumper its two harness connector pins together.

Awesome, this is just what I have been chasing for the past 3 months. I swaped the cluster from my other truck, changed bulbs, checked every fuse, pretty much everything besides swaping ECMs to see if it just wasnt running the check.

Where exactly is the PB switch? I checked the parking brake many times? Im sure I missed it.

Thanks

PB=parking brake?........there is a single wire that connects to the pb switch on the parking brake mechanism......mine ended up being dirty... i sprayed it with clenaer and for the most part it works......rockauto has the part for $28
AIRTEX / WELLS Part # 1S3593

Thats what I figured it was just a single wire ground. Ill clean it again and see what happens.

Thank you for the info ive been frustrated for some time over this. I hope thats just what it is.

Still having this issue. I pulled the parking brake switch and swapped it with a good one from my other truck and no light still. I cleaned the connector a few times and bought a brand new PB switch just incase now the other didnt work. The new one works in the truck the light comes on and the PB switch that came out of the truck that the light works now doesnt work in that truck.

Both switches dont work in the truck that wont illuminate the brake wrning light, or maybe they do and I have other issues.

Any suggestions? I already checked bulbs, swapping cluster, fuses, and now the PB unit and switch.

Having the same issue as you tried 3 known working clusters 2 known working PB switches tested the resevoir swithc and pb switches and they are ok still no light and my RABS lights on as well, this is all in a 92 Ranger.
The next thing I'm going to try is replaceing the RABS contorller with an extra I have seeing the RABS monitors the PB light maybe it interfereing will let you know it that works for me.

Edit: Checked the bulb too it was good but still put a new one in and no go.

It wasnt the RABS module, but I did find out what it was, the connector on the Master cylinder was corroded as was the plug itself. I removed the fluid level switch on the master cylinder cleand the connector with some 400 grit sand paper, and then some contact cleaner, cleaned the plug with contact cleaner put all pack togetether, and it works like a charm now. The RABS light went out as well. As for the Parking brake switch try a jumper wire from the plug to a known good ground to see if that makes the light come on, the plug on mine was bad (too loose to make good contact) replaced it with a crimp on plug
