Brake sensitivity variation at startup

In my '02 4.0 automatic I've been having an odd scenario where the brake sensitivity is off when I start driving.

I've had this truck since October. There was a time in the fall when the pedal was really soft when starting, like the lines needed to be bled, and leveled off to normal as I drove. Lately the opposite has been the case, where at the outset the slightest touch locks the brakes down hard. It also levels off after a little driving.

It's been rainy lately, and as I've read is common, the ABS light tends to come on at those times.

Any thoughts on what might be going on here?

Get the brake fluid flushed out and see if that makes a difference. If the fluid has lots of moisture in it temp can make a difference in the pedal feel.

That would make a lot of sense. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
