I have. 94 4x4 ext cab I swapped my 8.8 into. Now my abs and parking brake light are on. My parking brake is hooked up and works fine but the light stays on. why is that? The abs light I need to remedy as well. The brakes feel a bit mushy and when I apply any amount of pressure the rear locks up. Its becoming an issue in the rain. Any help on what to do will be awesome!!!

Check the brake fluid level and the float for the sensor. If the fluid level sensor is keeping the red brake light on the ABS light will come on as well.

As for mushy pedal, I have heard of mixed results using the Ranger master cylinder. I put an Explorer on in my truck when I did the swap and haven't had any issues.

When you did the swap, did you also swap the swap the proportioning valve as well? Wheel cylinders take a different amount of volume and pressure than disc brake calipers, and will solve your rear lockup issues...

where is the float sensor at? or what would it look like? i've heard that putting either explorer mc or proportioning valve in will work.

It is in the brake fluid reservior.

Yes. Or you can get an aftermarket adjustable one.

The explorer's have built in proportioning, just get a master cylinder for a 4 wheel disk explorer.

will the master cylinder fix the abs light and the parking brake light as well?

does it matter what mc i get as well? my truck has cruise. do i need the one with rear disc with speed control with proportioning valve? or do i need the one without one of the above?

i just put a 4 wheel disc explorer master on mine.

also for spungy brakes did you happen to put the calipers on the wrong side. if so the bleed valve is below the inlet line and will trap all the air. they will bolt up fine either way that how i messed it up when i did it

I did the exact same thing so double check. Bleeder needs to be higher than the fluid input port.

If the ABS light is on check the fluid level and top off.

The emergency brake light is triggered by the pedal grounding out when it is all the way pushed down and has nothing to do with the rear axle and lines. Might just be coincidental. Maybe clean and lube the pedal.

I'm running the stock Ranger master cylinder and have never had a problem with the ABS or funky proportioning.
