1992 ranger 2wd exd cab. front brakes make grinding noise when put on but not all the time. replaced rear shoes last night, front were done already when i bought the truck, yes i took the wheels off and checked, the rotors are new as well as the pads, so could the noise be coming from something else. if anyone has had this same problem let me know.

I guess it would depend on what grinding noise it is you hear...

Could be your backing plates are touching the rotor...could also be your bearings...I had a slight squealing noise in my front end just before the passenger side tire fell off...but it was making similar weird noises for a day or two prior to that...and I thought it was the clutch for some reason...

did you check for side to side movement in the wheels or up/down movement? did the rotor move back and forth slightly when you had the wheel off? If so...bearings could be going south rapidly...and they should be changed ASAP...
