Hello,

97 B2300, 5 spd 2.3L

Turn signals do not work, cannot hear the signal module clicking when I flip the selector switch. I also had a spare flasher (the blue relay under the dash) from my old ranger so I swapped the known good one in and no change. Checked number 21 and 22 fuses, they look good to me. Now, the strange part: if I turn the signal selector to the right, then press the hazard button (so that it is up), the right signal flashes normally (I get dash indication as well as front and rear signals). While the hazard switch is on, I can jiggle the button to make the right side stop or start again, but nothing happens on the left side. Brake lights also do not work (none of them). Parking lights and headlights are functioning properly. I should also mention that the fuel gauge does not work (have not troubleshot that yet and it doesn't bother me). I believe I have multiple problems. The fellow that owned the truck before me didn't feel like properly wiring his trailer lights so he removed the taillights and stripped the wires and tied his in to go to his plug. This problem existed before I touched it but I went in and removed the hack job trailer lights and taped the stripped wires. Any ideas?

I believe you have two seperate problems. The fuel gauge is a common problem, probably the float in the tank. The turn signal problem is probably the switch as that is the only common place where the signals, brake lights and four ways integrate. Pull the connections and test the circuits before you replace the switch though, you never know what someone else has done before you got it.

How about that electronic flasher? Something to add to the list that Martin gave ya, which is pretty darn accurate.

on my mom's 02 Mustang, neither of the brake lights worked, I looked at everything, fuses and knew that the chances of all 3 going out at the same time is pretty low, but then looked under the dash, a wire on the brake pedal was broken. I highly recommend disconnecting the battery doing this, it creates a big spark. I stripped the wire a little bit and took the female connector and replaced it, and works just fine now. Now we just need a new MAF because the housing broke after fixing the A/C.
