I have a 2001 Ranger 3.0 with a .50 trim turbo, its not as impressive as it might sound. I have touched probably every component of this truck. After the truck passed inspection (miraculously) I noticed that the brake lights seemed to only work intermittently. When I ease onto the brakes, the brake lights don't come on, but when I stomp them they do. They also don't shut off if I ease out of the brakes, only if I let off fast. I'm going to start with the brake light switch mounted to the pedal because its cheap but I'm not to faithful that'll work. If anyone knows anything, let me know.

If your wiring is sound and you're getting proper ground, then it does sound like the issue is the brake pedal switch. Otherwise maybe the bulbs are going out.

I would bet money this is a brake switch issue...

Thanks guys! I know its not the bulbs because I've just replaced them, so I guess that narrows it down doesn't it.
