So lately the ABS light and the brake light is coming on in my 97 Ford Ranger.

Its only in the mornings when the truck is cold, and after about 10 minutes of driving I can turn off the ignition and restart the truck and it goes away and stays away.

It used to be rather rare, but now its getting to be more often.

So I guess I wanted to get some insight from the forum members.

I have been reading up on threads, but none mention the brake light (that comes on when you put on emergency brake too) and the ABS light.

So if I missed it, point me to the right thread or throw some ideas my way!

Is your brake fluid reservoir full? This would be the first place I would check.

had the same problem with mine, filled the reservoir with new brake fluid and fixed the one leaking line, definitely check the lines as well.

abs light is an ABS "code" on the older trucks, is typically cause by metal filings in the rear diff, causing the sensor in the axle tubes to read the rear as locked up... though i don't think that typically turns off when it gets warm though...

the brake trouble light, is caused by 1 of 2 things, 1) low brake fluid, or 2) ebrake is on... often the brake cable sticks, and freezes, and once the engine heat warms everything up, it slides more freely... make sure the ebrake pedal is coming up all the way, when you take it off in the morning... if that isn't doing it, then it's your brake fluid for sure...
