Brake fade

Developed brake fade for some reason.

Yes, more info please.

Everything should work perfectly fine with Dot 3, but have received recommendations to replace system w/Dot 4 (due to higher boiling point - 446F vs 400F).

Changed the brake booster due to hissing but seems like I had better braking with the old one. Also noticed some non-linear braking. Has anybody had any trouble with those reman boosters? It's a Cardone from Advance. Saw a thread on Reddit about bad Cardone re-man boosters.

did you adjust the rod between the booster & master cylinder?
is the vacuum ok?

No on the rod, vacuum is ok. I think that is just the way a re-man is. I'm gonna get a new one.

I got the tool and the rod turned out to be 3/16 inches too far out! There was NO instructions with the new booster on setting it up. I had never done a booster before. (Can you tell?) Brakes pretty good now but pedal is still a little low. I'll put some new pads on it this weekend. I know they're low. Thanks all!

WOW! Still working on my brakes. Was driving down the road and the brakes felt fine and firm. THEN, all of a sudden they went soggy! System has been bled, new booster and master cylinder. I think its the hoses going into the calipers. Don't see any leaks and not losing fluid.

Yeah, a lot of people don’t think about the hoses if they’re not cracked or leaking (and I’m guilty of this too at times but I’m trying to be better about it). Truth is, the hoses can fail internally and often do. I’ve been kicking around the idea to try and move to stainless braided lines but that requires figuring out exactly what you need because they are more “universal” fit and I just haven’t had spare time to figure it out yet

fluid level? leaks ?
give the rears a good look, including the line going from the axle to the frame.

loose rears cause the pedal to be low.

Usually a hose going into a caliper will either explode or break down internally and not let pressure release causing the caliper to stick.

I would look at your back brakes...leaky wheel cylinders and out of adjustment specifically.

As far as the booster adjusting rod...i had no idea on my B2 and i just set it same length as the old one.
