I did a brake job last weekend, what a surprise. The calipers only seat about 3/4 of the way one. In other words, you can see that about a 3rd of the caliper doesn't even engage with the rotor. The real shocking truth is that the old ones were seated the exact same way. I had to change the drivers side because of the rotor. The inside was heavily scored on the inside from what I think was a stuck caliper. It was also pulsing when I would stop. Not anymore so I guess I was correct. Then again, looking at it, how could I be wrong? LOL! I just can't believe what I saw is all. Anyone with some insight on this. I don't understand why Ford would make it to where the entire caliper rides on the rotor and not just 2/3 of it. AMAZING!!!
I'm also trying to get a wire on the rear speakers. They're the stock ones, rectangle shaped with an angled bevel cut on one side, I believe is how you'd put it. Anyway, they look as though they're sealed. The speakers inside are blown and I want to replace them. I would like to keep it completely stock. Is there a way to open them?
Also, I have a very slight hesitation from a complete stop. It doesn't always happen, but it's there. A mechanic at a shop thought my distributor was bad so he changed it out. (my wife got stuck in a downpour, truck was flash flooded up to, and inside the puter on the passenger kick-panel. Had to let it dry out is all). After he put the old distributor back in is when the hesitation started. Could it just be out of time? It never did this before.
I put a new 180 thermostat in because it runs a little on the warm side in the summer, especially up hills (mountains). The AFLD doesn't like heat all that much either which is/was my main concern. I've read and been told that the book says a 180 can be used. MOF, at the parts store, it's in there books. The thing is, when I do the codes, i'm getting one that tells me the temp is not right, a code 21. So, [scratch my head], what's the deal? If the parts book says I can use the 180. . .
The last thing on my list is the intake, and or idle. This truck idles between 700-1000 RPM when warm. Yes, some days at 700, others at as high as 1000. Any suggestions?
Thanx ya'll. Have a Great New Year!!!
