I have a 1993 Ranger XLT 3.0, 5spd, 2wd with 184+ thousand miles on it. If I have to stop hard, especially pointed downhill, the Brake and ABS lights on the dash come on. The brakes seem fine and the lights reset when you shut off and restart the engine. Anyone else have/fix this problem?

Check you brake fluid. It is low, causing the warning lights when you stop as the fluid will slosh.

Low fluid either means pads/shoes are worn out or you have a leak.

I did find the fluid a LITTLE down so topped it off. Have not experienced anymore problems. Have had a couple of quick stops, nothing really hard yet so will see what happens. Thanks.

if the fluid is only down a little , the lights will come on , I had the same problem , all it took was maybe a couple of table spoons of fluid to clear the lights
