My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
Yep, I got tired of the chronic A/C, HVAC, and cooling system problems with the Kenworth...... it also had other issues like needing about $2000 worth of bushings replaced and the 8 bag air ride is not as smooth as kenworth leads you to believe ...... (Actually I got tired of not having an engine brake). I finally got somebody to buy it and the trailer so I will be buying a new (used) pick up soon.

so I bought a 2003 International 9900i with a pre-EGR 475 cummins ISX and a 10 spd.

might post pics tomorrow. I bought it from Evans trucking and will keep it leased on there until I find something better.

oh yeah, this means I am back to work.

none

I dropped hazmat and tank when the rules changed. Dropped doubles and tripples because I didn't use them and airbrakes is no longer required with a class A CDL

Um, I must have missed the memo. What rule changes? I had X endorsement.

I got hazmat back in 1997...... then "X" was a $10 endorsement

now you have to be fingerprinted by the TSA to haul hazmat........ plus the fines are 3 times what they were and 3 times easier to get one.

plus here in Michigan it is now a $60 endorsement and $180 for the fingerprinting. I am not going to pay it so I can haul a load that doesn't pay any better than a legal (length wise) load of bridge beams and is 200 times easier to get a $150,000 fine.

don't have stupid TWIC card either.

go read the new hazmat book. I have one from 2007 and it lines out everything they fine the driver for and everything they fine the shipper for and everything they fine the carrier for. IMO hazmat is not worth it unless you work for a company (like a tank outfit) that all they do is hazmat. I have no desire to haul liquid bulk fuel so I have no need of an "X" endorsement.

Looking at my license .... I do have a passenger endorsement......... I wonder why I still have that.......... I have not used it since before I got out of the Airforce and went into the AFNG.

hold on, I just got home friday. going to ever to prep it for the week. I will take some pics. I don't really care for cummins engines but I like the pre egr ISX..... been averaging 7mpg....... the Kenworth got 5.5 mpg.

when i got a job drivin, ill be gettin a western star like the ol mans, i likes his fully loaded freightshaker, but that star was just awesome.

I like the way Western Stars are laid out. The only good Freightliner (besides a Classic XL) is a dead Freightliner.

here are some pics

this is a just a beat up old 2003 Intrntl 9900i with a 2002 pre emissions engine, but it meets the age restrictions for most carriers that I would consider working for, the Kenworth did not. going to get an 18spd soon. looks like I need to throw a couple slick packs on the 5th wheel

that is a beautiful truck. never was a fan of the half-flanges but they look pretty good on that one. like the headache rack too

Good looking truck. Just needs a detail and it'd be good as new.

Oh hell no. Glad I dumped the X after all.

Are they fun to drive? I've never ridden in one but I don't think it'd be a bad job.
