no i doesnt work every time i put a fuse in it it blows its the same fuse that works my reverse lights so i dont have either

Does it have the factory trailer plug or did you put an aftermarket one on?

I wired my trailer plug to a white wire hanging down by the bumper, assuming it was a ground, it wasn't and it blew the fuse everytime until I fixed it.

At least some of this OD thing makes since. As for the orginal questions. No worries. The 4.0L will pull that little trailer no problem. And the weight seems low enough that you can use OD (if it worked).

As my rule of thumb, you can tow safely in OD if the weight does not exceed the cargo capcity of the vehicle. So for the Ranger, it would be 1500~2000 lbs.

I think the gear searching rule is better than that weight rule.

Around here, there are some damn steep freeways/ mountain passes, and even with an empty truck with a half tank, you can't use overdrive.

it doesnt work i kept blowing fuses so i just took out the fuse now i dont have reverse ligths or overdrive
