Ok, so I'm sitting here listening to my professor talk about perfect cleavage (Geology you sickos!) and wearing a new pair of my favorite kind of boots (because I need them for later this afternoon/tonight) and I can't hardly move my feet, much less walk in them... Now, this has always been a problem, but I've just worn them until they finally break-in (which takes months)... Does anyone have any good tips or tricks on how to break in a pair of thick leather boots quickly? I can't really wear them everyday...

I used to take soak my combat boots (the old old style) ones in water. then wear them till they dry. Worked pretty good. there probably are better methods though.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like a good time to me, haha... I'm not sure what kind are the old kind, but my favorite boots are Uncle Sams Intermediate Cold/Wet Boots, with the little removable booties... My feet stay dry and warm all day long, and if you get extra booties you can just switch those out instead of waiting for them to dry... Only problem is they take FOREVER to break in, lol...

buy timberland pros.....

but seriously, get them wet, and walk around till they dry

I don't see the point in buying boots like that when I can get these for $45 a pair including extra booties... But, if the wet and walk thing works, I'll be doing it then, haha...

here just ship them to me ill break them in then send them back :yahoo:

The people on here are so nice, I bet you'd be willing to chew my food for me if I sent you I giant box a T-bone steaks, lol... No, I think I'm gonna do the water thing... Got me some warm water going now, lol...

1. get em wet. On the outside only!

2. wear em till dry!

3. get some NEATSFOOT and oil the shit out of them!

( Ive done this on quite a few pairs of ARIATS and Justins and Generics.. the tighter the grain of the leather the better it works) And yes it does work!!

Ok, well, I've got me some water running here in the sink in the lab (yeah, I know, haha)... I got me two plastic baggies for my feet... Would you recommend just spraying the boots or actually submerging them? I'm pretty sure I can submerge them, the tongue is attached all the way to the top, and water wouldn't be able to get in anywhere... and Where the heck to I get Neatsfoot? Thanks guys...

Ah, crap, they float... Whoda thunk it? Even with water bottles in them they still float, haha... I guess I'll be holding them down in the water...

i was talking about the old black leather boots. The new ones take forever to break in, but are like slippers after a long while. Another good tip is invest in a pair of gortex socks. They keep your feet dry even when your standing in water up to your knee. Best things i ever bought i wear them hunting and i wore them several times when i was in afghanistan.

Yeah, I like the ICWB becuase I've never gotten my feet wet, and they are comfy, but they seem like they take forever to break in compared to other boots...
Well, I just got finished soaking them for about ten minutes, I ended up putting them on and standing up in the sink to keep them from floating, lol... What a sight... But, I'm gonna go get me some neatsfoot junk now, if I can find it, lol...

My God, Army boots with booties in them? Think things have changed in the last 40 years, they sure have some nice weopons now.
It does take some time to break in a new pair, wear them aroung the house or on short trips. I've got an old pair I just love but feel bad about wearing them out in public but they do fit like slippers.

1. If you buy boots like that you verry seldom have to break them in.( last pair of timberland pros i bought felt lie i had already had them six months minus the water leaks and broken laces)

2.your feet will not hurt as much after working in a good boot for long perriods

3. They tend to last a little longer than the cheap "wal-mart" boots. I'll try and post a pic of my 2 yr old timberland pros that I have worn to work every day (steel toes showing through, soles cracked and my feet still stay warm and dry!)

4. A good pair of wool work socks never hurt either!

Take it from someone who has worked in construction most of his life and worn every thing from a Danner boot (damn nice work boot) to those cheap as hell bramha's from wal-mart spend the extra coin when you can when it comes to work boots!

But like every one else has said on here wet the hell out of them, let them dry, then put a boat load of neatsfoot oil on them!

How about full leather Army boots with Gore-Tex and 200 gram insulated booties? That's what I love about them, I've got waterproof, warm and tough for less than $75... If your feet do get wet (if it isn't almost freezing out, my feet will sweat) just switch out socks and booties and go, no waiting to dry your boots...

Yeah, I just can't afford to spend the money on boots like that, plus, I'm not in them all day every day... I do live in them at least one weekend a month, though... I'll be trudging through a cave tonight, so I needed something waterproof, lol... I've got me several pairs of wool socks, and Gore-Tex socks (best thing ever made for your feet)...
