Boot break-in tips?

I used to take soak my combat boots (the old old style) ones in water. then wear them till they dry. Worked pretty good. there probably are better methods though.

its not much fun, but it is the absolute best way ever!!!!!!!!! the boots form fit to your feet. You wont find a better way.

its nota good time, but it is the absolute best way ever!!!!!!!!! the boots form fit to your feet for always.

I'm doing that right now... I had to stand up in the sink in one of the Biology Lab rooms, lol... There still kinda damp... I'm hoping by the time I get done working here They'll be dryish... Gonna try and find some of that oil, is there a special place I can find it or will it be at the local Wally?

Soak them in water and wear them till they dry. It sucks for a day, but your feet will thank you later.

I warm them up, beeswax them good, then wear them.

Also, Timberland Pro's are not what they are cracked up to be. I have found, through extensive outdoors boot usage, that Georgia Boot, Danner, and Rocky are the best.

All this talk of Timberlands? I had 1 pair and that's all I'll ever need from them. They were the worst boots I've ever owned, felt like i was walking on steel all day, they had no cushion IMO. I've had better luck with the Brahma's from wal-mart. Now I wear Wolverine's and I'm stuck on them, not overly expensive and not cheap, they are comfy and tough...but to each his own I guess...some people would rather drive a Chevy, same thing I guess?:icon_rofl:

I use saddle soap on them and wear the shit out of them and the leather should loosen up.

Exactly. Timberland is a name now, nothing more.

i went the cheap way and got brahma from walmart and i started walking on the side of my foot and didnt pay any attention to it and it messed up my heel and now im in a cast because i had to have surgery to correct my feet ive been wearing brahmas for the last 5 years and they messed me up now all im gonna wear is georgia boots

Ill usually take the new pair out fishing when i get them. A good 3-4 hour walking up the creek breakes them in well then oil them up when dry. I like the wolverines too!!!

i would take mine mud bogging with me :headbang: and then get them home and let them dry. then i would soak them in oil. chippewa boots are the only one that will last for more than 4 months for me

My last pair of boots were Carolina's. Steel toes and gortex. Wore'em 5 days a week for a year and a half in an aluminum foundry. Still got'em.
Buy a good boot that fits right the first time you put your foot in them. I've got a couple of toes that are bent because I bought snug boots and thought they would relax.

Red Wings all the way baby! Wolverines are the worst $130 bucks I ever spent. Took about 3 months and I had holes in the bottoms. They were durashocks. I could walk thru dew soaked grass first thing in the morning and my socks would be soaked. Talk about pissed off. 12 hours of hard on your feet work in soaking wet boots and socks is hell. Carolina boots and Georgia boots are good too but the last set of Ga. boots I got kind of dissappointed me. Cant go wrong with Red Wings but even used they are still expensive.

Who on Earth buys used boots? Yuck. If anyone here does, I have a few rubbers you may be interested in, CHEAP!

Naw, when i say break in.. i first off have bought a pair of well fitting boots with a touch of heelslip..

Break in to me is simply creasing and forming the leather to the way your foot moves and functions in the boot.. A conditioning if you will..

I like my Tim Pro's very much thank you...the only thing i don't like is the cold toes so i wear two pairs of socks.
And about breaking in boots...why don't you wear two pairs of socks and walk around the house for a day. Thats the way I've broken in boots/shoes since I was able to walk.
