thinkin about puttin a turbo on my 2.3 truck does anyone know where to get a good quality turbo kit that makes good power and is descently priced??? And are those ebay turbo kits any good? :headbang:

best bet is to just drop in a thunderbird turbo 2.3, it'll handle about all you want to put to it, I push 10psi into mine and it doesn't' care, that's like 180hp

if you just turbo your current engine you can only push about 5psi max unless you swap in forged pistons (they come in the thunderbird block)

go down to the forced induction forum and search around, you will find out all you want to know

ight thanks man....does ur truck pull pretty good with its setup?

yes, very good! especially when running right (it's had it's issues)

find '87-88 parts if you can, the computer and such that came on them will handle more boost than the '85-86 like I have, and apparently have a better all around tune. I leave my boost controller connected which puts me right at 10psi, on regular gas I can get to 8 or 9 when it's hot before I get a mild ping, if I'm planning on rodding on it I'll stick plus in it, that seems to be enough extra octane for it, premium if I wanted to disconnect the boost controller...

nice bro i really wanna boost my truck FOR SUUUUURE i think it would be fun little trail truck with 33's and a 4" lift :)

I'm doing the swap too, I have many of the components already but I am wondering just how necessary the 190lph fuel pump is and whether or not I can run stock boost on a factory bottom end? I'm going to be running a TC intercooler-- my goal is 145hp and being impervious to altitude changes.

Stay away from Ebay kits. Not saying you won't run across a good one, but most are missing pieces and the quality of the welding is crap.

I'm running the stock ranger fuel pump with no issues, 10psi should be around 175hp, that's where the stock boost controller is set which is enough for me, safe and simple, just stab the throttle and go...

the stock bottom end is good to 300hp or so...
