Regarding a 1998 Ranger 2.5L, can anyone tell me what the thread is on the exhaust manifold flange so that I can have new bolts ready at hand when I take it apart to install a new catalytic converter? Also how long they need to be, though I could likely measure this with some contortions!

Thank you!

I just replaced mine but I couldnt tell you what they are. I cut mine off and took them to Advanced auto. They had the right size in their fastener section.

Word of advice: Thoroughly chase the threads with a tap and apply anti-sieze. When I replaced my cat everything was rusted together. I ended up replacing the exhaust manifold as well. Anything you can do to keep that threads clean and the bolts easy to remove will help in the long run.

Thanks for the advise with regard to chasing the threads. I always do Anti-sieze! Wonderful stuff. I will not have an extra vehicle to get to the store, so I am trying to be prepared ...
