Boggin's Build Thread

haha, well i got it installed and everything today,
but my truck will turn over fine but doesnt catch,
and i realized, the fuel pump wasnt cutting in when the key was turned.
and guess what
I removed the bed myself!, remember i tried it on twitch and didnt work? well i just have a thing for rangers..:thefinger:
well anyways i took off the bed, (btw im leaving it off cause it looks bad ass!)
and took the cap out from the top of the tank and checked the fuel pump, i put battery charger on it and the pump cuts in ok then, so it has to be the wiring, so i checked the wires with my tester and they dont work, so i have to trace the wire right up to the front, im thinkin the wire is gone where the ignition is or something, Im getting a mechanic over to look at it later on, and should have her working tomorrow.

that is all..

theres a relay on the passengers side fender for the fuel pump, theres also a shut off switch on the floor under the passengers side dash. check both of those. theres also 2 fuel pums on your truck. one in the tank and one on the frame rail under the drivers door. make sure they are both operational. btw, when you are troubleshooting, start with the easy stuff (switched and relays) and work your way up to the harder stuff (pulling the bed to check the pump)

already checked that man, thanks anyways,
but now to think of it...where the wires from the fuel pump come up through the cab, the split apart and one set of wires go up around the door and in off somewhere else, but the other ones come out between my bucket seats, they're both black, and not hooked up to nothin, but when we put them on the battery charger, i hear a funny noise like a buzzing sound in the dash on the passenger side..
thanks

Sounds good, glad to hear you're making progress on it. Be careful using a battery charger around the gas tank though, sparks make stuff go BOOM!

haha yea i was trying to be careful of that, :)

edit; sorry for the double post

I had the same problem with the pumps not turning on. Disconnect the intertia switch for the fuel pump(under the dash) and direct connect it. Then disconnect your fuel pump relay(with the key on) and jump the large prong to the smaller prong adjacent to it. Both fuel pumps should turn on.

thanks, but i didnt know they had 2 pumps, i seen that on the frame just figured it was a filter or something..thanks ill check that out

No problem, its an easy way to tell if your pumps are bad, if thats what your trying to figure out

i already no that my pump is working. took it out of the tank and checked it with the battery charger

took it out of the tank.... so you tested it dry?? that will burn them up

well not really, didnt take it out of the tank completely,
but thanks though, never knew that

So did you check the high pressure fuel pump on the frame rail to see if its working? I thought you just tested the low pressure pump in the tank? Or am i completly confused?

hahah no i havent been there yet, shes at my cabin, and im bringin her home soon

ok now im looking for some new lights to go on the ranger, does anybody know what brand to recommend? Piaa? KC? Baja? Hella? thanks...
p.s. i currently have Baja Toughs on my push bar, just want to get some covers for them now..
