Ok i know body lifts arent the best, i no this. Its all i can afford though and i need some extra height. Im gettin a 3" perfomance accesories BL. Does anyone have a 3" body lift and can tell me what problems they have run into w/ it. Will i need any extension cables or other things that arent included w/ the kit. o yea i have 99' Ford Ranger 4x4.

youll need a steering extension, and a shifter entension if its a manual, i have heard that some guys needed a filler neck extension. and for looks you will want bumper relocation brackets

Your body lift should come with all those parts.

I had a tough time getting the front tow hooks off. spray them good with some penetrating oil . I had to use a propane torch to heat up the bolts to lossen up the thread locker. Take your time and follow the instructions.

If you have an auto tranny you just have to loosen the wiring from the clips.
As long as you kit comes with everything it will be easy. :icon_cheers:

If it is done right, a BL looks good. Just take your time. If your looking for a complete kit, Performance Acc. has about the best kit with every thing you need. The only thing you will need extra is if you have a manual tranny...then you will need the shift ext. One note if you do have a manual...take the extra time to trim around the bottom of the shift boot or you will run into problems with second gear not wanting to shift in smoothly.

K well thanks for the help and it is not a manual its auto. but could any body possibly post up some pictures of there 4x4 with a 3" body lift. Btw does anyone know how much taller a 4x4 is then a 4x2?

thread jack! sorry. how much is a avg price for having a body lift kit installed?? or how hard is it to do without ever doing before??

body lifts are all good, mine was a pain in the ass to install because my mounts and rubber bushings were screwd but i installed one on a friends in a hour as long as the bolts come out easy.

all i need is a filler neck extension on my 88 its auto tho

Mine was pretty easy in my '85, it was kind of fun to put on actually. I did make a extension for my 4x4 lever, the knob was sucked down in the boot when the cab was lifted. My brother and I got it done over a weekend.
