That 2 and 2 looks good. I have a 1984 that I want to do a 2" body lift on but so far I've only seen parts for a 3" lift. What is a good source for a 2" body lift for a Ranger?

Maybe do a suspension lift first? you can always do both if you want to. Body lifts are nice if you want to run a larger tire with stock geometry suspension, if you are into a bit more flex and off-road performance, your going to want to do a suspension lift instead. aside from that, rangers dont show nearly the amount of framework that some trucks do (s10 for example) so if the frame bugs you, you could always get a set of rock sliders or nerf bars to cover up what you dont want to see. :headbang:

You can order the blocks from Performance Accessories and grab washers and 2"longer bolts for your truck, or make your own lift pucks. Here is a total kit for your truck though, which will save you almost any hassle at all!

ok good i see a dakota running around town and man all you see is frame with the body lift

I ordered 1" body pucks from performance accessories for a decent price, just wanted a little extra room for the v8. combo body/suspension lifts are great for an all-around wheeler/DD

I think the key to having a body lift is hiding it.

first off, paint your entire undercarriage satin black. just powerwash it really good, and rattle can everything you can see underneath (except exhaust, duh). cheap, lasts 1-2 years, and takes the attention off the frame, and focuses it on the body.

make sure your bumpers and exhaust pipe line up.

gap guards below the bed can be made out of rubber "lawn edge trimming." buy a roll, do yours and everyone else's for less than the cost of "real" ones

ya, that was always my biggest fear, the dreaded full-length gap. I did a 3" lift to my 98, and directly after doing that my friend bought one for his 1500 chevy and man, it looked like crap. kinda made me like having a ranger. I did a 1" lift on my 02, and you cant hardly tell a thing has changed (well its not alot to begin with) but still. If you get really concerned, focus on the suspension lift and go with a smaller 2" or 1" body lift on-top of the suspension lift. ^ tony makes an excellent point however and i should re-enforce his point. what you do to your truck after the lift can really make or break your trucks look. Gap guards (you dont even have to buy em, you can make em easy.) and a little bit of spray paint can go a long way.

These rangers are of course are newer generation rangers, but it will give you a bit of an idea how much frame will show between the 1" lift and the 3" lift. heck, if you add RSH's 2" lift to the equation you will have the whole range! :icon_thumby:

My present ranger: 1" body lift:

2in coil spacers and 32's this is before I cut about 2in out of my front fenders. Bottom line is suspension is better than body but if ya cant afford a kit like most people do a 2in washer lift, get either some exploder springs or some beltech shackles and cut your fenders. If you want more hight do a small body lift.
