So im pretty confidant about installing my body lift.the truck is a 2008 model xlt 4x4 and im putting on the kit 70033 for up to 2006 since there isnt one out yet. It will be here tommorow and i will start on it on saturday. Ive read through the instructions several times and looked on the truck to figure out what they are talking about in it and it seems pretty simple. Now i just have one question. it doesnt mention anywhere about a ground strap thats wrapped around the crossmember near the transfer case. Its mounted on body goes around the crossmember and remounts to the body. anyone know if this is important or as to what to do with it?

wtf? ive never seen that before. if its only a ground strap, it would go to the frame. looks almost like some sort of cable. doent look like it supports anything though? wait for more replies! but the bodylift its self is pretty easy, just make sure you have an extra vehicle to get around in, just incase you need to run somewhere, or it takes longer than you thought.

i did some more looking and it seems to be connected to the seat belt bolts? wtf. yea my old ranger didnt have that either thats why im asking. got plenty of vehicles and im off the hole weekend. the only thing i need but dont have is the welder but the crush blocks can wait just gotta remember dont put anything in the bed thats heavy

okay, probably(maybe) pretentions for the belt! becareful! make sure your airbag fuse is out! i dont know if i would remove those though!

Its to keep the cab from going flying off in a hard front end collision, if the body mount bolts break the cable is to hold it to the cross member.

hum, thats what it looks like alright. but when i looked at the way it was connected to the cab, i thought it would have to be something else, and i know bmw's (junk) have snap cables for the seatbelt pretensioners, so thats what i thought it was!:dunno: so this mean my cab is going for a flight if i get in an accident! JK!!!!

That cable is for your seat belts. I just took my seat out this past weekend and also the seat belts. After unbolting the seat belts the bolt/cable came out of the holder and thats how I found out what is was. Just undo your seat belt and unwrap it then put it back before you lift it.

That is what it is for, the seatbelt bolts were just a handy place that was already reinforced to mount it to. I left mine alone when I lifted mine, it got tight but is still fine, mine is a little older than yours though.

The seat belt pretentioner that goes off in an accident is actually attached to the seat belt buckle part of the seat belt, it is a metal cylinder with an explosive charge that goes off.
