i have an 88 ranger 2wd and Thinking about a 2" body lift and 2" bushing and washer or coil swap, dont know which would be better. Would I need to put in new gears and at what point would I have to. if any body has pics of of something similar waould appreciate. Thanks

Ive always thought suspension lifts are better than body lifts. with a body lift you just lift the body off the frame to allow for bigger tires and you get that annoying gap between the body and frame. with a suspension (adding washers under the coils or getting lift coils) you gain more room for tires and you lift the entire truck up and not just the body. as for the gears, it depends on what gears you have now and how big of tires you want to get.

If you just want to run larger tires a body lift is the way to go, you won"t have to deal with any alignment issues.

cool thanks yeah im gonna have to look up what gears i have

in addition to not having alignment issues with a body lift, you won't have to buy longer shocks, get another hitch ball with a bigger drop, possibly have to get longer brake and fuel lines, lengthen your body/engine to frame ground wires, etc.
my truck in my avatar is on a 2" body lift. those were the old 235/75x15 tires on it. now have 31" tires and i like the looks just fine.

you wont need longer brake lines with only a 2'' lift. you start to need those when it get around 4''. ive never heard of having to get longer fuel lines or ground wires. if anything you would need that after a massive BL. It would be one big ass lift though.

I think Im gonna do a 2inch body and suspension would love to get the skyjacker 8 inch lift kit but dont got the money any good ideas i read about the bushings and longer coils any inside on which is better thanks.

they both have there benefits. if you go with spacers some people have had problem with them rotting after awhile. you can avoid that though if you get steel ones.

dont bother trying to get them from a dealership. the prices have gone up and they are hard to come by new. they are all over the place in salvage yards though. longer coils are nice though because you get brand new coils that aren't worn out and you avoid the hassle of finding spacers. Its more expensive though

Whats the highest you can get out of a coil and wouldn't I have to get some extra accessories for camber and also for the back could I use a block and a bigger leaf do yo know how high I could go?

I would like to getting it looking like that red ranger on the skyjacker ad that's 8 inches.

Is this possible the cheap way?

you will need to get it aligned no matter what size spacer you do. the camber will be off no matter what. and there is no way to get it looking like that without dumping some serious cash into it.

thanks

That's what I thought geuss I'll start saving.
