Has anyone re-applied the blue coating on the driveshaft splines? The coating on one of my shafts is separating and peeling away and I can't seem to find much information about what the coating is or how I might apply a new coating at home. I'm not set up for powdercoating. I was hoping there is some sort of chemical similar to PlastiDip that is air activated after spraying or dipping that I could pick up from a local retailer. Any Ideas out there?

Only thing I know of that should be on the splines is a thin coating of grease. Then clamp the boot back over it.

I know what you are talking about. I had a f150 that had the plastic looking stuff on the splines also. Another great idea from Ford no doubt. If it's too sloppy when all the plastic is gone I guess your only choice is to replace the splines.

I guess you know you are not supposed to be driving that old thing anyway correct? Ford designed it so you would buy a new one at the max in 10 years.
