So my Rough Country lift went ahead and put a new vent hole in my diff, i JB'd it and topped off the gear oil so i could get outta the woods, about 15 miles thru rough terrain. About 2 miles after this i get stopped dead in my tracks like i slammed the brakes...apparently there was a good chunk of metal in there, from the hole, getting stuck in the gears. If i backed up enough i could get it unstuck and keep going, but this kept happening, i had a decent buzz on and was getting awfully fed up so i just kept going, had to go to work in the morning, by the time i got out of the woods this thing was DONE lol. Slip yolk barely holding on, clanking like crazy with every bump.

Now the front driveshaft is just kinda hanging there, still in the diff but clearly not attached to anything on the inside. So i need to replace this, im currently looking around for some D35's and not having much luck under the $700 range.

What would i need to do to repair instead of replacing it? Anybody got any advice? If i didnt need it, or was made of money, i would go SAS but its just not in the cards right now.

Thanks for any help guys!

rockwells are the ONLY option here. no, just kidding.

just get a new pumpkin, there's gotta be someone selling one in the classifieds. i have a spare pumpkin you can have, but it's got no inards. i was planning on using it when i regeared, but who knows when that's gonna happen

i cracked the Driver's side beam (long story but didnt realize the pinch bolt sheared off)... and was able to find a new beam here.

http://www.hollandusedautoparts.com/

they have (or should say had) a good selection of parts for the front end. try calling. theyre easy to deal with.

it also isnt TOO far of a drive to pick up a new member.

www.car-part.com has yielded a few items for me. I've seen loaded diff chunks available by themselves at a few yards so i would think getting one shouldn't be an issue (3.73 seems the most common of any, too).

I s'pose it should go without saying, get rid of that drop-plate extension so it doesn't bust open your new housing too (alternatively you could lower your bumpstop on that side, though you don't get the travel benefit of losing the drop-plate).

get real brackets if its gonna flex that much...

or just SAS it now.. save your money from dealing w/ ttb IMO, but several people like ttb, including junkie above me...

I'd SAS it but i dont have the fabrication skills myself or anyone that could do it for free, willingly. I dont have the money to pay for it and cant find one alreeady set up. So its TTB for now unfortunately. But yea ill adjust the bump stop for now, and will be getting skyjacker brackets as soon as i can. if only i could find a D44 all made up for a ranger..hmmmmmm

i know where there is one...i want it but i have to finish my dash first and i want to go fw anyway. its a 93 ranger with an early bronco dana 44 guy said he would take 750 for the complete sas. 10 inch lift total with coils. comes with a 8.8 thats regeared to 5.13 as well....i wish i could afford to go get it but i cant.

i wish i could afford to ship it across the country lol
i bet, i would buy it but ive been driving around with no dash for 3 months...and my clutch is just about done so the timing is horrible

Ehhh...

Skyjacker brackets, maybe some good coils & shocks if you want (and steering if needed) and you'd be all set.
I see no good reason for an axle swap myself unless you want wider axles from a fullsize (and/or a D60).

I've got one here with 3.73's that is yours for a few bucks but you need to come to south jersey to get it.
