Blowing Vacuum Hoses

Alright, I'm new on here. And I've never worked on a Ranger before. But my buddy just bought a 1994 Ranger 4x4, with like 180K miles for like $800. And guess what, he's having problems with it, hahaha. Well, the problem is that it's blowing off the vacuum hoses. There's a fitting with 3 or 4 vacuum hoses on it coming off the intake, I think. And it seems to be blowing off the vacuum hoses when he turns the truck on. Any ideas?
 
if its an auto tranny a leaky vacuum modulator would send atf up to the manifold and soften all the rubber until they started to fall off
 
If it is automatic check the modulator/diaphragm as stated above. Lines wet on the inside at manifold? Under the passenger side you have enough room to pull the vacuum line from the modulator to see if ATF appears, if so bad module.
If you decide to pull this part it is only 2 fasteners away(I believe they are 10mm nuts) but will require extreme patience because you cannot see what you are doing unless it is on a lift.
If you pull the part remember to either retrieve the modulator pin from the part when it comes out or the transmission and insert it in the new modulator before replacing.
Then replace all the rubber end fittings in the vacuum system.

Same thing happened to me. Several hoses blew off at the vacuum tree, put them back on, zip ties, and then noticed it would use a quart of trans fluid in 100 miles. 289-tiger is right about the little modulator pin. You will swear yours doesn't have one, until you drive it without it. DOH!
