blower problem.

86 ranger 2.9 v6.
problem no air blowing, fuse keeps popping when turned on, cant find relay to check that any ideas guys?

Disconnect blower.
Install good fuse.
Turn on blower.

If fuse pops, check wiring.
If not, replace the blower.

You can test the blower easily.
It has two wires, power and ground.
Even if you switch the wire's polarity, the motor will still run, just backward rotation. Try that to verify blower is bad.

still confused

replaced blower just to be sure. but having the same problem. no wires seems to be cut or spliced. any ideas guys?

I'd bet it's the resistor pack. They like to get hot enough to melt.

Note: 1983-1990 Rangers don't have a relay. The power for the blower motor comes straight from a 30 amp fuse that is hot in run. It is the fuse directly above the flasher.

It's shorting to ground somewhere. Check for the resistor pack, the motor itself shorting, or melted/bad wiring somewhere in the system.

i got sick of trying to figure it out so i wired it to a dimmer type switch and now it works just fine thanks guys

Does it at least look stock?? The picture that brought up in my head is an example of a horrible thing to do to a Ranger!!
