Turn key truck starts, blower fan doesn’t work. Open hood, drop it from 12”; fan starts /works ,ac and heat. 2004 4L 6. Anyone have an idea of what I might need to fix…

Sounds like a poor connection getting rattled enough to start working when you drop the hood.

Pop the hood and start wiggling connectors and harnesses to see if you can affect operation.

I agree with Gump. Sounds like loose connection. I would begin looking at the connection to the blower motor and the power resistors. Might even be a rusty broken resistors assembly.

Thank you. When the storm passes my area, I will get to playing with it, and let you know if I find the issue.

The speed reduction resistors are a popular repair including the wiring too. Autozone carries both, so be sure you check out the wiring. The blower R&R is also tight, smashing the squirrel cage fan is allowed, no worries. IF you have cruise control, that moves away easily, then you can get to the blower, resistors & harness for replacement. Did mine in an hour. It's nice having more than on fan speed though here in Texas when it's hot, everything's on "full". Very popular repair.
