block heater

I know I have a block heater. Is it pluged directly in to the block? I see a plug not plugged into anythin. I suupsose that plug goes into a electrical plug. But where is the other end connected to? I followed it to somewhere near the battery. I am confused

The wire might go near the battery box, but the block heater is most likely on the side or back of the engine block in a freeze plug hole.

If you check the engine block for a 120v wire coming off of it, you will find the block heater.

I have the 120 volt wire plugged into the wall now. Not real sure where the other end of the wire goes.

Passenger side of the block, just below the exhaust manifold. It will have a orange colored plug on that end that plugs into the block heater.

you followed it to the battery? maybe it is a battery warmer

I know that when I plug my block heater in I can usually hear a small humming sound. Not sure if its supposed to make that sound... but if you plug it in and hear a small humming sound, you probably got yourself a block heater my friend.

But, like everyone else said above, if you follow the wire it should lead to a freeze plug in your engine block. I know mines on the passenger side.

Yup! Battery warmer. Freeze plug is still in tact. That seems useless!

your battery's ability to crank goes down with temperature, so battery warmers do help.
