Blend door nightmare

Hey guys, my heater wouldn't switch from cold to hot. Too a gamble on it being the blend door. Got one of those kits you cut up the heater box to replace. I'm following the instructions but I can't get the damn door posts into the little pockets... I can get either the top, or the bottom inserted.... Is there a trick?

I've seen that repair done. If I remember... they weren't nice about getting it in there.
