okay so im a bicycle mechanic and we bleed our hydraulic brakes atleast once a year, but i was curious about how often you should bleed your brakes on your vehicle?? kindof stupid question i know, but ive heard three different answers in one day....

Any time you open the system (replace a line, hose, caliper, wheel cylinder, master cylinder etc.) No need to just bleed them.

It is a good idea to flush out the brake fluid once in a blue moon tho.

Speaking of which, I was watching truck U and they had one of those pressurized systems, I checked them out online and they are awesome. Not $90.00 worth of awesome though. I'm cheap and I have two sons! HAHA. Pump till I get tired!

So not a necessity when u change rotors or pads, this guy at my work was saying brakes are the most missed questions on ASE cert tests

Hello

I bleed mine every time I do work to them. My B2 sees a lot of water and brake fluid attracts water. I just gravity bleed them in order.

igiveup

brake fluid needs to be flushed out once a year. or more if it gets dirty fast.

you should never have to bleed them after the first time.

that makes the most sense, thats what we recommend for hydraulics on our bikes

I put together my own power bleeder with a new garden sprayer, guage, and some brass fittings.
Works just as well as a purpose built unit, and it was a lot less than $90.

I thought about that when I saw them pump it up. You got plans you would want to share?:icon_confused::icon_thumby:

Flush brake lines? I think the manual says every two years...but I was tempted to do it to my Zuki when I saw the black sludge in the master cylinder...
