I'm having a heck of a time bleeding the clutch in my 87. Can I get one of those "Brake Bleeder" tools and try and reverse bleed the clutch system?

you can, but it probably won't work.
its because the master cyl. points downward and traps air in it. you'll have better luck jacking the front of the truck waaaaay into the air or unbolting the master and tilting it up
