My credo
Give 'yer balls a tug. Fight me.
Just thought this was interesting. Had Blackstone analyze the oil from my Ranger. Was running Walmart Super Tech full synthetic with a bottle of Risoline Nano Prime (don't judge me, it was on clearance for $2).

I've always liked the work they do. Next oil change, I should send in a sample on the 2011 to see how it is doing.

Now that I changed timing sets (ditched the diamond power for a cloyes) and upgraded oil pumps, really interested to see what the next results are going to be. Guessing the metals they found are my POS timing set coming apart.

That much magnesium does seem interesting. Guess its from the additive.

Make sure you tell them that on the next report. They like it when they have an answer to a mystery. I had a silicone issue with my 1999 Honda CR-V that was found to be a chewed up end on the intake hose after the filter letting dirt in after the filter. That discovery made them quite happy.

Definitely tell them it was force fed a substandard timing set

They can't even measure the amount of coolant it's so high.

When you fill out the form, if you give them the details on the additives and specify the oil brand they usually have the info on what's exactly in them so they can say for sure if that's where the weird stuff like magnesium is coming from.

Dunno if you did that or not. I always end up sending in an extra sticky note with more specs when I'm testing something new.

Oh ha ha...

Side note, I'm really impressed that even with water/methanol injection, I still didn't have any water in my oil.

I'm a little disappointed I didn't the middle finger. Next time.

What temp t-stat are you running? Does you're engine get up to temp often with longer run times or mostly short trips?
Water is one of the easiest thing to remove from oil. It just needs heat and time.

180 thermostat. Most of my run times are 30 mins - 4 hours.

Where do you get the sample kit? Might be fun to try.

Kits are free, basic test is 28 bucks.

cool, thanks!
