So recently purchased a minty ‘03 ranger with a host of super weird issues leading it to not running. The older feller I bought it off of was in the process of fighting PATS but lost so I inherited the struggle.
What he replaced
Keys
Transponder
GEM
Lock Cylinder
Immediately I started using my autel MaxiCom mx808 scanner. Scanned engine codes, cleared them to start with a clean slate. Immediately came back with no key cycles. I went ahead and used the Autel to reprogram the keys. No luck. Turns over but won’t fire. Now here’s where it gets weird
The THEFT light doesn’t illuminate. At all
checked voltage at pump and the inertia switch. 7.5 volts. At the relay 12. Swapped relay, same voltage issues.
all the codes seem very random and the fact they’re resetting without a key cycle or trying to crank leads me to think a bad ECU I attached the 6 continuous memory codes my autel was pulling.
I’m currently in the process of trying to find a part out truck I can grab a known good ecu and keys from just to verify ECU state
