So I spent thanksgiving with my granfather who has brain cancer in Ramona, CA(San Diego Area) and took off toward Arizona at 3 AM. I was doing about 80(my trucks top speed:bawling: ) about 10 Miles west of El Centro, CA in the Imperial Valley when the biggest bird I have ever seen met my windshield. Besides spilling my coffee on myself and thinking the windshield was broken momentarily I was fine. The pass side of my winshield, where the bird hit is completly covered in cracks. I pulled into a gas station in El Centro and cleaned a bunch of blood and feathers off my truck and discovered my radio antennea slightly bent. has anyone ever had a similar experience?

My dad hit a pheasant once with his BII, looked exactly like a Bald Eagle as on a quarter lol, dead center on the grill. No damage to the truck though, just an unpleasant smell from the odd feather burning off..

A few years ago, I was on my way up to my apartment at college, about 50 miles away a partridge flew across the road and I almost hit it. Figured just a stupid bird and kept driving. About 20 miles farther and a bald eagle flew out right in front of me, couldn't have missed by more than 5 feet :shok:

That would have made a WONDERFUL news article :icon_twisted:

I have hit a partridge before, and a chickadee bounced off my hood, but that's all for me.

I've seen long haul trucks come into the shop after meeting a duck, or goose. The later often landing in the seat after going right through the windshield.

i hit a owl in my dads bug doing 90, it hit at the top of the windsheild...didnt even crack it or dent the metal :D

When I was about 10 I was riding the school bus home and a turkey hit the windshield and came right through. Dang thing flew around in the bus, and we had to pull over to let it out. Just ran right off into the woods...didn't look like it even phased it.

I was with my dad when he nailed a wild turkey on the highway with his super duty. The thing just came out of nowhere and bounced off the windshield, no damage though. :icon_thumby:

I have hit a few doves pretty good, no broken glass. One of them went through the grill and landed on that crossmember in front of the radiator, I left it there cause I don't give a shite, and I swear that sucker stayed on there for 6 months.

I've taken a couple of bird strikes...

the first serious one was a Starling sized bird into the corner of my windshield at ~125mph Scared the hell out of me...

But that was nothing compared to my last one... a full grown Hen Turkey

~75mph into the drivers side of the windshield

The plastic laminate was the only thing that stopped it.
I lost half the windshield (inside and out) on impact.

It was no longer edible, but I dragged it home anyway.
My Cat really enjoyed it:)

That hit was so bad that the inner glass cut both of my hands
(while on the steering wheel) sprayed the entire interior with fragments
ruined my sunglasses and pepperd my face with fragments....

dang allan good thing you had your shades on!

what did you have at 125? surely not your ranger?

mom hit a wild turkey and killed it put a small dent in the hood and cracked the plastic around the light that was some good supper that night

After much "WTF" thought I figured out it was a goose. Makes sense as I was near the Salton Sea

back in the 80's I hit a partridge. I was doing about 60k it bounced off my grill rolled over the hood over the windshield over the top of the truck, Spraying feathers Everywhere, bounced into and out of the bed and hit the ground.

I was thinking DINNER. So I pulled the truck over and got out. Walked over to the bird reached for it.... and it got up and ran away. Apparently It wasn't hurt. Other then missing about half its feathers.
