Going to go look at a BII. Was repainted in 2000 and has been garaged since the repaint. Everything on the BII looks great. Interior and glass all good. Was driven in Los Angeles so no rough roads. It hasn't been used much since 06. The problem is it has blow by.

Is 1000$ too much?

All engines have blow by. How much does it have?

I guess it has a lot. I haven't looked at it yet. Going today. I have a two hour drive ahead of me to see it. He told me that it does have a loss of power going up hills. I currently have a BII that needs paint, window repair, stereo repair, and tires. I'm debating keeping mine and fixing it or just upgrading the exterior and interior with this buy and throwing in another 2.9. I keep thinking of doing a 4.0 swap but need to find a donor exploder this winter.

Depends on your ability. What year and tranny. I'dprobably hop on it if the paint and tires were good

Bought it. Picking it up next week. I'm thinking its the egr that needs replacement. Felt like it had good power on flat roads. Lots of oil out of the egr

I'm picking it up today. Renting a trailer in about a half hour. Driving over Donner Summit into Sac. Trailer it up and get her home to fix it up right. Bought some hoses for the PCV valve and have a used PCV valve here. Going to try and see if that helps it run a little better when I load it up.

The big question regarding a 4.0 swap. How many miles on the 4.0 Explorer donnor? I was looking at a Explorer that has 180. They say it runs great but needs a new trans. Only 400$

Cancel that. Don't have chains for the trailer

Picked it up today. Threw in a new pcv valve and a map sensor. Ran it until it was warm and no signs of blow by. Has some lifter tick. Think I will run some sea foam and try to clean up engine gunk. Also threw a code scanner on it and no codes came up. Has the D7 axle code. 4:10 limited slip.

Going to give it a tune up next weekend and see if I can get it running better. Needs IAC and TPS to get the rpms steady.

Killer find! 4:10 LS and a clean running 2.9? Game on!

Thanks. I will know a lot more about it this weekend when i get home. It didn't want to shift from first until it was warm. Think it needs a tranny flush. Shifted fine after going up and down the block. I'm no expert on auto transmissions. What causes or doesn't cause it to change gears? After it was warm it felt like it was running like it should. Didn't feel any lag when shifting up or down.

Let the truck warm up, drive it around to warm up the transmission then check the fluid level. If the fluid level is low it can cause shifting problems, but usually if its run low on fluid for quite a while or been abused by the previous owner the transmission may be toast. Shifting from 1st-3rd should be automatic, but into overdrive or 4th on some transmissions won't be achieved until the transmission is warmed up, so I'd most likely have it looked at before it quits altogether on the highway.
