Bigger tires= Better MPG

it really is pretty simple the slightly larger tires allow for lower rpms on the freeway using less gas without having to turn too much more weight the distance compensates for the reduction in power i dont jump on it too often i drive like a sane person quick shits and dont do 70 mph all day long

Yep.....it's true...you can get better gas mileage on the highway with a taller tire (as long as you don't go TOO tall causing the engine vacuum to drop too much)....and technically your getting better gas mileage on the highway than you think with the inaccurate speedometer (shows fewer miles than you actually traveled when compared to the GPS)

now...it gets worse....you can get better gas mileage on the highway with a SHORTER tire (if the stock tires are actually lugging the engine)...shorter tires will put the engine rpm at the "right spot" causing the engine vacuum to increase using less fuel!

trust me....i am a doorgunner...

yeah the 235's work out really well they are a heavier load tire they make the truck ride a bit stiffer but still feels like a cadillac compared to my dodge 2500 ctd

and the tires that were on the truck were like a 215/60/14 or something like that on the back they seemed a bit wider than the 235s i think because they were a car tire they made more contact surface on the road these tires are a heavier load rating and less foot print on the ground

235 mm is wider than 215 mm, so no your stock tires were not wider than your new ones.

The 235 call-out is typically the body section width. The tread width is usually less but varies depending on the manufacturer. It is feasible the tread could look wider on a 215 tire compared to a 235 tire but in general the 235 should look wider overall.

I do know this the tires that were on the truck were those indy 500 tires? they were pretty feeble tires I would air them up to 35-40 psi and they still looked like they only had 12 psi of air in them they really sagged under the truck when i put them side by side they were pretty close
