the rear crossmember- does not look as though the metal was cleaned at all prior to welding=dirty, pourus, brittle welds.
the angle iron bumper that resembles a noodle- would have been better off using square tube or boxing it in with thicker material and
the shackle hangers-could use boxing in/gussets

many people cut holes in the box to fit the shocks in... thats what happens with long shock if you want the full travel out of them. ever notice the hood of trophy trucks/ monster trucks? the shock towers show through.
as for the bed bob who cares it a trail truck it'll be destroyed after a few trips anyways, and then the shackles... meh they could use more bracing but that'll come in time im sure. and plus you'll only rip them off once lol then it'll get done right
I used to be a metal fab, making anything from automotive parts, to beer signs.
the hole cut in the box instead of relocating shocks,
very common and works well.
and was a grommet put in the hole for the fuel lines in the bed? id be scared if it wasnt.
in the text it says he put one in

i stand corrected about the grommet. still would rather relocate the shocks further down the axle and even have them cross, before cutting up the bed, especially on a support bar. thats just lazy.
have you ever driven a truck without shackles? its not as bad as you would think in fact its not bad at all we've had field trucks that we never bothered putting shackles on and ive had them up to 80-90 km an hr on backroads i drifted it and jumped it only problem i ever had was the rear end being lower one the eyes of the springs punched through the box and got stuck in it.
ive also driven my ranger 40 km home after ripping the front mount for my drivers side leaf spring off the frame i was still able to do 80km an hour then drive the truck back to school 40km again then to the shop after school to put in the new mount.
like i said im sure it isnt ideal but at the same time its not really a big deal either its his truck and if he has any problems with it thats his problem lol.
Why would you run the shocks lower? so you can get hung up on rocks and the trail?still would rather relocate the shocks further down the axle
