hey so basically i love my 31" km2s but they are wont out and look small on my truck now with the lift i have. i would love to get another set of KM2s in a 33" but heres the thing.. i want an actual 33" tire, not a 32". everyone that is running 33" km2s say they only measure about 32" with 32 psi on an 8" rim..
and ive heard people saying that a 35" at running pressure only measures 33.5"
theres only 3 pound difference between 33's and 35's.. would it be worth it to just get the 35"s to stay with a tire that will actually be a little over 33"?
i love the km2 though so im trying to stay with this tire.

side by side nitto mud grapplers were about 1" taller than the km2"s both 33", off the rim. but i hate the look of the mud grappler, just saying the size difference is very noticable..

4.0 auto, 3.73 gears 50,000 kms ( wont be re gearing FYI )

Just go to the website of the tire company you want to buy and all the dimensions of the tires will be listed. That is how I always picked out a set of tires before I buy. It tells me the rating of the tire (width, height, noise, wet traction, etc.)

tires will always vary. Pressure they are run at, how heavy the vehicle is, how wide the rim they are on if they bubble in the center or ride flat, and tread depth wear.

If you really need the extra 1" of clearence the tires give you then shop around and get the largest tire that fits the truck. My 33" KM2s and KOs both measure an inch difference between front and rear of the truck because of the weight difference. Then if I air down for the trails its almost another inch lost. The 33s measure at 32.80 according to the factory and the 31s I had measured 30.80 from the factory. The 33s are a huge difference in height. The 31s are on my Jeep and with my Ranger next to it the 33s make the 31s look like the stock 27s that came on the Jeep.

alright, im gonna go with the 33" then, but from what i think your saying is that a 33 x 12.5 on a 10" wide rim, will be slightly shorter than the same tire on an 8" wide rim? because of the buldge?

What about the gearing, 33" tires with 3.73 gears will be a nightmare to drive.

You will be in 3rd all the time and never get out of 4th on the highway.

AND run an 8" rim, it may give you a little more in height.

As far as tires are concerned, look at other trucks with similar tires, if you like the look just get the same tires.

honestly im not too worries about gearing with 33"s i know it will be fine based on other peoples opinions, i kno 35s is a no no.. ill stick with the 33"s on my 8" rim.
the reason i dont want to regear, is because i have a stock set of brand new winter tires for the winter that i use, so i couldent run a deeper gear.

Not everyone measures their tire's height correctly (proper way to do it is with the tire mounted on the rim and inflated, but with it off the vehicle or with no weight on it. This eliminates the variable of distortion from the vehicle's weight).

33x12.50 BFG MTs (old pre-KM style) I had years ago measured out to 32.8" when new. 35x12.50 in the BFG KM1s were 34.9" new.
35x12.50 Goodyear MT/R-Ks (what I have now) were 35.06" (or 35-1/16") new.
A buddy's 33x12.50 MT/R-Ks I didn't measure exactly, but they looked similarly oversized like my 35s (much bigger than the 32-1/4" I measured on a set of old-style MT/Rs in the same size, those things ran real small).

All of the above were on 15x8" rims.

Hope that helps.
