Hey finaly beat the ranger issues except I have no 02 sensor reading but the plug is still in the motor. So no check engine light until truck warms up still runs good. Until you run it hard and let up but fuel mixture does not and you loose 1/2 tank in 59 miles. So would I be better to unplug the 02 sensor from motor so it does not read and put motor in failure mode. or how do I bypass the sensor?

You kinda lost most of us.

If you have an engine control unit that requires the O2 sensor to regulate the air/fuel mixture- Then you do not bypass it. It's needed to ensure the correct ratio.

Sounds like the O2 sensor needs to be replaced/fixed and that should get your MPG back to somewhat normal.

agreed i was kind of lost by that post, any who.

oxygen sensors dont work until there heated to a proper temperature, hence the acronym hego - heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor.

also i used to have a problem where id run the truck hard, let up and it would run like crap, stumble, sometimes die, sometimes not restart. ended up being the fuel pressure regulator, pulled it off and it was plugged up by a ton of black stuff.

I Think, that an unplugged O2 sensor would be seen as as a null. .45 Volts ,which is midrange for them. I think the O2 sensors are heated in my '94. I learned to use a volt meter and watch it dither between .1 V and .9v That is a good O2. If the reading is steady , it is junk.. Harbor Freight has a multi meter for less than 10$. A cheap meter will save you mucho dinero and time :D
