Best way to splice 8 gauge wire?

Use whatever mechanical splice you want. Heat up the ends and run solder into them. then clamp. In cruder times and different situations , I have used pieces of copper tubing and a hammer and screwdriver to make a crimp. Best is to Home run a new wire, anything else is a bodge.
